Atlas GRAVEL CAMP

When: 8th - 15th November 2026 Duration: 6 days of riding | 7 nights

Atlas Gravel Camp is an unforgettable journey through the diverse landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. Thoughtfully designed for riders who love to spend long hours exploring, it will take you deep into some of the finest gravel roads in the region.

Expect champagne-smooth gravel highways, winding between golden dunes and rugged dirt tracks carved into high mountain valleys. Every kilometre of this route has been carefully crafted to deliver the best gravel experience Morocco has to offer.

You’ll ride old mining roads, discover hidden passes tucked between towering peaks, and experience the striking contrast that defines this region — where the greener fields of northern Morocco slowly give way to the raw, untamed edges of the Sahara.

This is more than a ride. It’s a journey into the heart of the Atlas — remote, varied, and memorable.

  • Arrivals - November 8th

We will welcome you at Marrakech Menara International Airport (RAK), where shuttle transfers will be provided to our first accommodation—a kasbah in Tahanaout, at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. This will be our base for the first part of the event.

At the hotel, our team mechanic will assist you in preparing your bike for the event. In the evening, we will gather for a briefing before sitting down to enjoy our first traditional Moroccan dinner.

  • Kik Plateau - 70km / 1700m

    Surface: 85% gravel

We begin our tour with a loop stage around the Kik Plateau, often seen as the gateway to the Atlas Mountains from the Marrakech side.

It’s a unique place where you can take in panoramic views of the Agafay Desert, with Lake Takerkoust to the north and the snow-capped peaks of the Atlas Mountains to the south. Its lush greenery contrasts beautifully with the rugged red rock landscape—making it the perfect setting to begin our event.

  • Ourika Valley - 95km / 2000m

    Surface: 95% gravel

The first real test for your legs: over 2,000 meters of climbing packed into less than 100 km. Gentle rolling hills guide you toward Ourika, where a long riverside ascent begins, climbing to Tadmamt at more than 1,800 meters above sea level via the back of the valley.

Your reward? A 20 km champagne gravel descent back to the hotel—fast, flowing, and fun. Just don’t forget to slow down and take in the views from the first high point of your journey.

  • Agafay Desert dunes - 100km / 1400m

    Surface: 75% gravel

It wouldn’t be a Morocco Gravel event without a ride through the desert. While this trip is all about exploring the Atlas off the beaten track, the final day of the first chapter leads you into the Agafay Desert.

But don’t be fooled—this isn’t a flat stage. After weaving between dunes and camel caravans, a final climb over the hills of Tannzat awaits, offering one last breathtaking glimpse of this vast, arid landscape before the next part of your journey.

  • Sabkhas - 90km / 1000m

    Surface: 90% gravel

Sabkhas (Arabic: سبخة) are salt flats formed in inland desert basins. These landscapes are generally devoid of vegetation due to extremely high salt concentrations and are characterized by soft, impermeable, and often muddy soils.

Stage four is not just a transfer between Tahanaout and Touama. It’s another jewel in our itinerary—this one a bit salty. On the way to the second part of the event, we will traverse salt flats hidden in ancient desert basins, shaped during the Holocene epoch. Another example of how much this land has to offer.

  • Touama *rest day - 50km / 750m

    Surface: 95% gravel

For those who don’t want to spend their rest day by the pool or wandering through olive groves, there is an option for a short ride to stretch the legs before the final stage of the journey.

Although it’s a small loop, it will leave you in awe. Shortly after leaving the kasbah, you’ll find yourself in a landscape rich in colours, different from what you’re used to in the first part of the trip. A sharp left turn by a few scattered mud-brick houses, and you’re out there again—on your own, with only sheep and goats for company… and if you’re lucky, you might even see them resting in the trees.

  • Three Valleys *Queen Stage - 120km / 3300m

    Surface: 90% gravel

The start of the queen stage takes you onto a champagne gravel road that was part of the first Atlas Mountain Race route. It hangs above the Tensift Valley—a balcony road winding deep into the mountains, where an old mining track hides at over 1,800 meters. Rich in colour and marked by mineral tones beneath the rock, it feels almost otherworldly, forming our first secret pass.

Left in awe, we continue toward the highest pass of the event, over 2,000 meters above sea level. An old shepherds’ route connects to the Ounila Valley—a trail once suited only for strong mules, or perhaps one that can now be conquered on two wheels.

The journey continues onto a balcony road, absent from maps, hidden beneath peaks towering at almost 3,000 meters. At the end of the valley lies a final village—seemingly a dead end, yet this is where the route begins again: a forgotten pass carved into the solid rock of the majestic Atlas.

It drops us into another valley—different, smaller, more tranquil, nestled between the highest peaks of the Atlas Mountain range . One more climb, one more balcony road. It’s a hard day on the bike, but deeply rewarding, and one that will stay in your memory for a long time.

  • Departures - November 15th

It is time to say our final goodbyes as the journey comes to an end. After our last breakfast together, a hotel shuttle will take you to Marrakech Airport.

*Airport transfers are provided based on pre-confirmed departure times.

The history of this event goes back to 2021, when we rode our first Atlas Road Tour in Morocco. That was the moment I realised just how much this mountain range has to offer. Gravel roads stretched in every direction, and I found myself wondering, “Where do they all go?”

Since then, I’ve returned each year, trying to ride more and more of the hidden gravel tracks, hoping they might one day link into a single, never-ending route. Every hill revealed another climb; every corner opened onto a new balcony road. Rugged red rocks, soft layers of dust carrying you through the turns, and endless stretches of champagne gravel—it all carried the dream forward.

I wanted to create an event that feels like a true journey through this remarkable land, rich in colour and culture.
I became obsessed with studying satellite images, as so little of it appears on the maps. My aim was to design something that gives back with every kilometre you ride.

After three Atlas Road Tours and many scouting trips to see how far we could go, I’m now happy to invite you to the Atlas Gravel Journey.
